Costuming

Image
The costumes of the friend group will include casual clothing like leggings, t-shirts, jeans, joggers etc. They are wearing this type of clothes to make it look authentic and to look within the 15-18 age group of teenagers. Also the outfits we chose are going to allow us to maneuver easily through the locations that we set like the woods and the abandoned house. The hairstyles are not set to be in any specific way, the characters can wear it however they normally wear it to film. The costume of the police officer would be some cargo pants and boots that show the lower part of his body so the audience can tell the difference in characters and see who has authority. This will be shown in the very beginning of the opening scene before the friends know that their friend is missing. The props that will be used include flashlights, a locket, and the timbe...

Preparing to Film

actors The actors in our opening scene are Emily, Nestor, Leon, and me. Leon starts as playing the officer in the first scene to break the news of their friends missing. Then, Nestor, Emily, and Leon will play the friends of the missing person and I play the person missing. costumes The costumes will be pretty casual, as in high school clothes. The police officer is going to wear Timberland shoes, and the friend group is going to wear civilian clothing, that teenagers would usually wear. props The Tim shoes are a prop used to make it appear as if we have an officer in our film. They can create a sense of authority to our audience to heighten the suspense. There is also a locket the friends find in the woods that hold special meaning to the missing friend. I purchased the locket through Amazon and it was pretty affordable. locations There is going to be two different settings where we will be filming at. The woods is the first place where the scene of the disappearance begins, it....

Moodboard for Opening Sequence

Image
This is a mood board to represent what our film is going to look like. Our genre is mysterious as it depicts a mission that a group of friends going to find their missing friend. It shows the setting of the woods the high schoolers go through to look for their missing friend. The pictures show a mysterious vibe as to where the friend went. The costumes are casual as they dress like regular but there are cargos and Tim's shoes to show the officer costume.  The police are convinced that the friend is gone but, the friends believe otherwise.

Video #1:  Dare to Thrill https://www.youtube.com/watch?time_continue=4&v=nYpjHCwRO6Q(Links to an external site.) The film started by showing a master shot with all the characters going up the stairs. The wordings on the screen saying the characters names and title emulate how movies usually write the words on the screen at the beginning. The film opening uses many focusing shots that pull the audience's attention. For example, focus pulls are used to show the characters and the vehicle. These would be helpful in our own opening and can direct the attention of the audience. It also includes insert clips in chronological order of them getting into the car, the car starting up, plugging in the phone into aux, and amping up the volume to create a dramatic effect of going on a thrill ride. Trucking shots follow the car around as the group of friends swerve and speed around the parking lot and highway. I can take away from this film the different movements and composition in place, ...
